Child Protection and Events

From 1st October 2011, coaches without a current Disclosure or, for those coaches new to the scheme, a PVG Record as well as Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate will not be eligible to take gymnasts to SG competitions and events.

Scottish Gymnastics require all those working with children (coaches, judges, helpers, chaperones) within a club, regardless of whether in a paid capacity or as a volunteer, hold a current Child Protection certificate.  For those aged 18 + this would be Safeguarding & Protecting Children and for younger coaches and helpers it would be Safe in Your Hands.

Head Coaches and CPCs are required to hold a Safe Gym for All certificate in addition to Safeguarding & Protecting Children.

We are currently updating our CP calendar for the second half of the year, and in light of the above criteria, we would  ask  clubs to check their own records to see how many of their coaches are  due to attend a course or renew their certificate.

For full details, including dates of courses already confirmed, view the full August 2011 newsletter here.
